As promised Sunday...here's a link to the 3 papers which were presented and discussed at this year's Symposium at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary which I attended last week. The men who wrote these papers are all especially gifted in that they are not only true scholars, but also pastors who love their people as much as they love the truth of the Gospel.
There's some "deep end of the pool" stuff in these papers...but don't let that scare you off. They were written for pastors to be sure, but there's a treasure trove of information for any and every Christian to consider when it comes to how worship and outreach relate to each other.
I especially appreciated the continued reminder running like a thread through the entire Symposium not to think of myself as a "worship guy" or an "outreach guy" but as a "Gospel man" just as the Apostle Paul certainly did when he wrote Romans 1:16: "I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes."
Whether it's worship, or outreach, or the struggles of my own heart...it's the Gospel of Jesus Christ, revealed and given through Word and Sacrament, that is both the message and the means to bring true and lasting peace.
