Gold Buried in the Ground

Did you hear this story? This week a couple in California found $10 million in rare gold coins buried on their property in the shadow of an old tree. What are they going to do with this buried treasure that they discovered? They plan on paying off some bills and quietly donating to charities.

What would you do if you found a $10 million treasure?

Believe it or not, this Sunday Jesus would actually have each of us think about that as he tells us a story about a man who decided to take his tremendous treasure of gold, dig a hole, and hide it in the ground. You can read about it ahead of time in what is sometimes called the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30.

Join us Sunday as we wrap up our series Buried Treasure with this perspective altering, life-changing parable!

Last chance to register for our “church and a movie” event! After church this Sunday, you are invited to stick around and watch the movie Son of God at 10:30. As a church we are buying out theater #6 (right across the hall from theater #1 where we worship) which has 195 seats. Discounted tickets are $7 apiece. You can write out a check to Victory of the Lamb or pay in cash for however many tickets you register for. There will be a special box outside theater #1 for payment. That way we’ll pay Showtime all at once and you won’t all have to go back through the box office. Showtime would be happy if you went from church to the concession stand where you’ll be able to buy a discounted popcorn and soda for $2.50 apiece.

So just let us know how many tickets you’d like us to reserve for you and your friends because quantities are limited. Right now 126 of the 195 tickets have been spoken for. Please register using this online registration form by Friday, February 28th. There may be some tickets still available on Sunday, but if you want to be sure, register today.

Milwaukee Bucks Faith and Family Night. Come cheer on the Bucks with friends and family at the Bradley Center as the Bucks take on the Washington Wizards on Saturday, March 8th at 8:00 pm. Following the Bucks game there will be a special concert by the Christian band Mercy Me. If Victory of the Lamb brings a group of 10+ we’ll get our church’s name shown on the scoreboard. Upper Level tickets are $14.60 a piece if we place a group order. To order please contact me by February 28th on let me know how many tickets you’d like me to order for you.  So far 6 tickets have been requested. That means we need at least 4 more to have a group. If you can, please let me know if you’d like to go asap and I’ll let you know if we get a group together.

Things moving and shaking. Monday night this week we had a productive Leadership Team meeting. A recap of the meeting will be included in this Sunday’s worship folder. Remember that you can always download each week’s worship folder through the Online Community too after Sunday. Also this week I was privileged to be invited to a meeting with Kayla’s Krew and an incredible playground design company who gave us a presentation. I also got the opportunity to talk about our site, showing pictures and possible site plans on screen. Afterwards we all took a trip out to our land. It was sure cold out there but much fun to envision what might happen, God willing, when the snow melts one day (It will melt, won’t it?)!
