Victory News - Builders For Christ
“Christian leadership is more a function of who you are in Christ rather than what you do for Christ.”
– President Mark Zarling, Martin Luther College
This comment that I heard during the opening session of the Christian Leadership Experience that I attended last week really resonated with me. Leadership isn’t just what you do. It starts with who you are. And based on what the Apostle Paul says in Colossians 1:24-2:5 I’m confident that he’d agree. That’s the section we’ll be studying together as we continue our Profile series based on the book of Colossians this Sunday.
So join me as we explore what it means (and how wonderful it is!) to be secure in who you are in Christ. And then we’ll talk about how being secure in Christ leads to having energy to serve in Christ’s church.
Christian Leadership Conference - It was good to be together with over 500 fellow brothers and sisters in Christ down in Arizona for a couple days last week. Sarah and I attended numerous workshops pertaining to ministry and leadership. Especially we also attended all the tracks sponsored by the Builders For Christ who will be on site all summer here in Franklin from Memorial Day to Labor Day helping as volunteers to build our ministry center. We also had a little time to get out and enjoy some time together walking and talking. Lori Stankiewicz from our church also got to attend with us. Check out her story in the back of this Sunday’s worship folder for a recap of her conference experiences.
Builders For Christ Presentation - This Sunday we’ll have a shortened service to allow for a presentation by Matt Burow of Catalyst Construction and Mark Pamperin of the Builders For Christ. They will be talking about opportunities for all of you to help out with time and talents in the building of our church. We are very excited to have recently received approval from the City of Franklin for the Builders For Christ to come this summer and stay on site.
Special Singing Guests - This Sunday we’ll also warmly welcome the 2nd and 4th grade families from St Jacobi Lutheran School in Greenfield as the 2nd the 4th graders will be singing a song for us. Principal Brian Mensching will be attending as well and setting up an informational table about St Jacobi School in the lobby. St Jacobi is our Christian education partner that provides opportunities for 3K-8th graders.
An Evening at Gus’ - I’m looking forward to seeing the 50 of you who registered to attend tonight at Gus’ to get an update on our design plans. Doors open at 6 for tacos and enchiladas. I’ll introduce our architects at 6:30 as well as our task forces and then you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and talk.
