Victory News - Ministry Center Moving Forward!

“If only I had the body, the mind, the energy I used to have!” Have you ever felt like this? I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this is the universal experience of all human beings everywhere at some point! And despite what the click bait internet ads would have us believe… there are no special workout programs, brain training regimens, or supplements to ultimately overturn it.

On the other hand, that’s exactly what Easter promises to actually do. The curse of sin…overturned! Join us this Sunday at Showtime Cinema as we mine spiritual treasure from the final section of 1 Corinthians 15. Here God engages our imaginations with some incredible truths about our glorified bodies and what it will be like at the resurrection on the last day! This is truly a section of God’s Word that you don’t want to miss.

A Big News Kind of Week! – Thursday we received official word from the WELS Church Extension Fund (CEF) that our loan request was approved for the total amount we requested. This is wonderful news that means our building project can move forward as planned without needing to reduce the size of the building or make significant changes to the scope or timeline of our project. For this I am led to say with the Psalmist, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever!” (Psalm 118:1). So a big thank you #1 to God but then also to those of you who have helped so diligently in the planning process and all of you who have given or pledged so generously to make our ministry center dream a reality!

But that’s not all. On Thursday evening we received more good news. After asking us to make a few more tweaks mainly to our parking lot, water retention pond, and grading plan so as not to disturb anything inside the drip line of the mature woodlands, the Franklin Plan Commission approved our amended site plan Thursday evening. This means that we can literally begin site work next week in preparation for the Builders for Christ to arrive on site at the end of May. After so much effort and so many meetings, this seems a bit surreal to me to think that over the next couple weeks our site will begin undergoing the transformation that will turn it into our permanent church home by year end. Stay tuned for info about a formal groundbreaking ceremony in May.

Also, stay tuned for more information about how you can help feed the Builders for Christ who will be with us this summer. Check out this week’s worship folder for more info. We will have it online early next week as well
.

Victory News

Hello Friends,

What keeps you going in life? When you have those days where you’re down in the dumps, what picks you up and keeps you moving forward?

As you read through the book of Acts and Paul’s epistles to various congregations, the foundation on which Paul built his life and kept going was the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. The urgency with which Paul ministered was the backdrop of the Last Day.

In the portion of 1 Corinthians 15 that will inspire us this Sunday, we’ll see both truths shining forth. These teachings keep us focused and moving forward as we find our identity in Christ’s resurrection and find our purpose in living for Him!

Soccer Camp 2015 – Our annual soccer camp will take place this summer, June 15-18! It is already shaping up to be our best yet. There is plenty of space for everyone to get involved (not just kids!). New Bible 101 Class Starting Tomorrow! – Two consecutive Saturday afternoons. You’re still invited to participate even if you haven’t contacted me yet. All materials are provided free of charge. Contact me with any questions and to let me know you’re coming. Meeting at CESI which is located at 9850 S 54th here in Franklin in the Business Park. Session One: April 18 from 1-4 pm / Session Two: April 25 from 1-4 pm

Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS) Rally – Last Saturday I once again had the opportunity to be invited to be a guest presenter at a mission rally—this time at St John Lutheran Church in Center Wisconsin (close to Appleton). I gave a PowerPoint presentation telling the story of God’s grace and blessings to our church from the beginning when I was called out the Seminary to start from scratch right up to this point in time when we’re on the verge of building our own facility.

Pastors’ Conference – Monday, I along with 35 other area WELS pastors, attended the Pastors’ Conference that I helped plan as the chairman of our conference Program Committee. Four area pastors’ gave excellent exegetical studies based on the Greek text of 1 Corinthians 15. Our conference met at St. Paul’s just down the road here in Franklin in their beautiful new church.

Leadership Team Meeting – Monday evening we had a VotL Leadership Team at the parsonage. See this week’s worship folder for a recap.

Church Extension Fund (CEF) – Tuesday morning I got a tour of the new synod headquarters in Waukesha. The main reason I was there however was to meet with CEF and hand deliver the materials for our loan application along with Jim and Jeff from our building finance task force. This coming Wednesday we pray that CEF approves our loan request so that we begin moving dirt on our site asap so that the Builders For Christ can arrive on schedule at the end of May.

Building Budget – Early Monday morning I met downtown at Catalyst Construction along with our building design and finance task force members. We had a productive meeting centered around making necessary changes and tweaks to keep our project in line with a responsible budget in preparation for our CEF request.

Know Someone with a Pop-up camper? A Builders For Christ couple needs one for 6 weeks—from right after Memorial Day until the first part of July. Please contact our Builders For Christ project manager Mark Pamperin: 262-707-2312

Victory News - Good Friday / Easter

What’s not to love about Easter? Spring is finally in the air. Nothing beats the powerful Easter music and the fragrant lilies. There’s the opportunity to spend time with family, the tasty Easter dinner, the excited smiles of children racing around to find their Easter basket or that last hidden egg. For many families Easter marks the beginning of spring break and an opportunity to finally slow down a little.

But we don’t want to lose sight of the fact that Easter impacts our lives for much more than a day or a week and its impact on our lives is much more profound than making pleasant memories.

That’s why starting Sunday we’ve got a new series starting based on one of the most impactful chapters in the entire Bible—1 Corinthians 15. We’re going to take a closer look at the fact of Jesus’ resurrection and the wonderful implications it has on all our lives.

Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O grave, is your sting. The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through Jesus Christ, our Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

Good Friday—Since we’re still in the movie theater, we don’t have our own Good Friday yet. So instead, be encouraged to visit an area WELS church for their services today. You will be welcome! Here’s a list of opportunities for Good Friday worship services this afternoon or evening. Of special interest I think for many of you would be the special Tenebrae service at St Marcus with the band Koine. And the good news is it’s also being live streamed. Here’s a link to watch.

Soccer Camp 2015 – Registration is up and running on our website! Mark your calendars for June 15-18! Also, if you are on social media…please SHARE the event we created on our church Facebook page.

Easter Inviting – We are so blessed to live in a day when all of us can easily invite friends to church learn about Jesus using social media. Here’s a link to an Easter invitation on our church Facebook page. Please share! Also, here’s a cover photo you can use the next couple of days on your Facebook profile. Tomorrow let’s swap out our regular cover photos for the Easter invitation!
