You're Invited - Groundbreaking Celebration!

Hello Friends,

I’d like to personally invite you to join me along with my church family, Victory of the Lamb, for a special Groundbreaking Celebration next Sunday, May 31st.

What – Groundbreaking Celebration!
When – 11:30-11:50 am on Sunday, May 31st
Where – Our land located at 11120 W Loomis Rd – Franklin, WI 53132

Our plan is that we will have our regularly scheduled church service at Showtime Cinema here in Franklin just up the road at 9:09 am. The service will last 70 minutes. You are all invited to join us for that as well. We’d love to have you as our guests!

After that it will take some time for our tear-down crews to put everything away at the cinema. But everyone is invited as always during this time in between to gather in the spacious Showtime Cinema lobby where our Victory Café will have a special spread of food and drink for all to enjoy. Those of you who've attended one of our services before know that this is actually pretty much par for the course for us!

Then starting at 11 am we will have a bus shuttle people back and forth from the Showtime Cinema parking lot to our church land ¼ mile down the road for the Groundbreaking Celebration. After a couple bus trips we should be ready to go around 11:30.

Whether you can come earlier for church or not please know that you’re welcome to park at Showtime Cinema and join us on a bus trip to the land starting at 11 am. Otherwise it is permitted to park on Loomis Rd along our property’s frontage. However, the police department has discouraged us from doing that. That’s why we’re encouraging our members to take the shuttle bus.

In case of bad weather, check out our church’s website or Facebook page for updated information.

I know that May31st falls on a busy weekend for many people with graduations and year-end events so please know you’re always welcome to join us any other Sunday as well for worship at Showtime Cinema for a couple months yet.

By the way…if you’ve got kids ages 4-11, remember to sign them up for our 8th annual soccer Bible camp this summer! Visit our soccer camp webpage for more info and registration details.

Victory News - Confirmation / Groundbreaking Celebration!

We might have expected Jesus’ disciples to be heartbroken when he left them and ascended into heaven. But they weren’t! The Bible simply says that the disciples worshiped Jesus and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. How could they do that? Because Jesus was still with them—he was ruling over them from his position of power in heaven. Jesus promised to be with them always, and he promises us the very same thing. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series Words With Friends as we unpack what Jesus meant when he said, “You will be my witnesses.”

Confirmation Sunday—This Sunday, ten of our students—Jr High and High School aged kids—will give a public testimony of their faith in Jesus Christ and will have the privilege of receiving Holy Communion for the first time which they will do as a group. As a church we have the honor of celebrating with these students, worshiping with them, praying for them, and just being there to encourage them in their continued walk of faith. It’s so important that we can be a church family of people from all generations helping to pass on the heritage of faith.

Groundbreaking Celebration – May 31st after church we will be having a special Groundbreaking ceremony out on our church land (11120 W Loomis Rd – Franklin). It will take place at 11:30 am. Because parking will be limited on site, we will have a school bus shuttling people from the Showtime Cinema parking lot after church starting at 11. We can make a couple trips back and forth to the land which is only 1/4 mile south on Loomis Rd. The Groundbreaking ceremony will take place from about 11:30-11:45.

All are invited to attend worship on May 31st, stick around afterwards for food and fellowship at the Victory Café, and to join us for a momentous Groundbreaking celebration at which we also ask God’s blessings on the Builders For Christ who will be with us this summer!

Farewell Nathan and Becky! – This Sunday will be the last Sunday that our student assistant from this past year, Nathan Loersch, will be with us. God truly blessed us this year having Nathan and Becky in our midst. This coming week Nathan and Becky will find out where they will get to serve next year as Nathan will be receiving his first divine Call to serve as a pastor. Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary cordially invites all of you to be present for any of their special events this coming week.

Graduate Assignment Service – Thursday, May 21, 10:00 a.m. (This is when Nathan will receive his Call)
Graduation Concert presented by the Seminary Chorus – Thursday, May 21, 7:00 p.m.
Graduation Service – Friday, May 22, 10:00 a.m.

Helping the Builders – Food Donations Needed for the Builder Volunteers for the Summer! To sign up to donate meals, snacks or supplies, or even to volunteer time on the build itself, go to www.victoryofthelamb.com and click on the “Feeding the Builders” button on the right hand side of the homepage. Or to make it as easy as possible go directly to the page via this link. From this page you simply have to scroll down to find what you’d like to volunteer for. This is an awesome way for our congregation to say thank you to the builders who are coming from as far as Texas to help build our ministry center!

Meals – As a congregation, we are asking to provide a noon meal for the days of the build which are Tuesdays through Saturdays from May 26 through September 5th.  We really want to provide wonderful meals for the volunteers who will be working incredibly hard to build our ministry
center.  Meals consist of a main dish; fresh fruits or salad; and a dessert. The Builders have a phrase, “We judge a build by how much weight we gain.” Let’s look at that as a challenge to fulfill!

Snacks and Supplies –The Builders have two breaks a day at 9:30am and 2:30pm and we would like to provide snacks at each of these breaks. We will also need supplies and have a wish list of items we’ll need for the build. Again you can see the needs list by finding the link on this web page. Just click on the Snacks and Supplies button and login to CCB for a very easy to use form. If you don’t know your CCB login please contact me and I’ll be happy to send you a new login email with a temporary password.

Monetary Donations – We will gladly accept monetary donations to help feed the volunteer builders this summer. On the Information Table located near Theatre 1, we will have a small church with a slot in the roof. You can put your cash or checks in the slot.  Checks can be made out to Victory of the Lamb and in the memo section can be written “Feeding the Builders.”

Soccer Camp 2015 – Our annual soccer camp will take place this summer, June 15-18. It is already shaping up to be our best yet. There is plenty of space for everyone to get involved (not just kids!). Kids will enjoy the best week of summer, complete with soccer activities, scrimmages, snacks, a cookout and awesome Bible lessons.  Adults, you can come to camp too!  We are looking for soccer coaches (all coaching materials provided) and coaching helpers (no soccer knowledge required, just be able to help out). Sign up for a day, two days or all week! We are also looking for 3-4 camp helpers to help with daily registration, snack preparation and clean-up.  We hope to see you this June!

Victory News - Groundbreaking Celebration Save the Date!

 Hello Friends,

Through his life and death Jesus taught us that God’s love is a self-sacrificing love that finds fulfillment in serving others. All we do in life is to be marked by this type of love as we live (and love) by his words.

Join us this Sunday on Mother’s Day as we continue our series Words With Friends. I’ll be talking with you about what it means that Jesus actually considers us his friends. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends…I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you” (John 15:13,15).

Special Ascension Service — 40 days after Jesus rose from the dead, he ascended into heaven. On Thursday, May 14th, 40 days after Easter, you are all invited to participate in a special Ascension Day service at Centennial Lutheran Church just down the road. Our Victory of the Lamb worship band will be leading worship. Professor Daniel Leyrer from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary will be the guest preacher.  Come for worship at 6:30 pm and stay afterwards for food and fellowship. There will be Holy Communion at this service.  Centennial Church is located at 3558 S 24th St, Milwaukee, WI 53221.

Groundbreaking Celebration – Save the Date! May 31st after church we will gather on our church property for a special groundbreaking celebration ceremony. There are many details yet to be worked out including parking, transportation, community involvement, etc. So please stay tuned for more info in the next couple days but make plans now to join us after worship on what I hope we will be a beautiful and memorable day.

Victory News - Turning Dirt!

This Sunday we’re starting a new series called Words With Friends. Each week in this series we’ll be learning directly from Jesus as he taught his friends (which includes you and me!) some of the most important truths he wanted them (us!) to remember and put into practice.

Turning Dirt! – A picture I posted on our church Facebook page on Tuesday received over 1,000 views! Why? I suppose for me it was because seeing the dirt mover next to our “future home of” sign on our land was the culmination of years of hard work, prayer, and God’s blessings. But the good news is that that piece of heavy equipment didn’t just stay parked next to the sign all the week but already on Wednesday it was busy turning dirt. Sitework has begun and soon we’ll have a campsite set up and ready for the Builders For Christ to arrive at the end of May. And speaking of the Builders…

Looking to Upgrade Your Fridge or Stove?  – If you’ve been looking for a reason to upgrade your existing appliances, consider donating your existing, working fridge or electric stove to our church. We would use it immediately this summer in the shed that the Builders For Christ will be using as their hub and then in the kitchen area of our new Victory Café. This would help us save money for other furnishings in our new buildings. If you’re thinking this might work for you, please contact Lori Stankiewicz who is coordinator things with the Builders For Christ on our church’s end of things either by email or phone: 915-252-1646
