Victory News - Confirmation / Groundbreaking Celebration!

We might have expected Jesus’ disciples to be heartbroken when he left them and ascended into heaven. But they weren’t! The Bible simply says that the disciples worshiped Jesus and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. How could they do that? Because Jesus was still with them—he was ruling over them from his position of power in heaven. Jesus promised to be with them always, and he promises us the very same thing. Join us this Sunday as we continue our series Words With Friends as we unpack what Jesus meant when he said, “You will be my witnesses.”

Confirmation Sunday—This Sunday, ten of our students—Jr High and High School aged kids—will give a public testimony of their faith in Jesus Christ and will have the privilege of receiving Holy Communion for the first time which they will do as a group. As a church we have the honor of celebrating with these students, worshiping with them, praying for them, and just being there to encourage them in their continued walk of faith. It’s so important that we can be a church family of people from all generations helping to pass on the heritage of faith.

Groundbreaking Celebration – May 31st after church we will be having a special Groundbreaking ceremony out on our church land (11120 W Loomis Rd – Franklin). It will take place at 11:30 am. Because parking will be limited on site, we will have a school bus shuttling people from the Showtime Cinema parking lot after church starting at 11. We can make a couple trips back and forth to the land which is only 1/4 mile south on Loomis Rd. The Groundbreaking ceremony will take place from about 11:30-11:45.

All are invited to attend worship on May 31st, stick around afterwards for food and fellowship at the Victory Café, and to join us for a momentous Groundbreaking celebration at which we also ask God’s blessings on the Builders For Christ who will be with us this summer!

Farewell Nathan and Becky! – This Sunday will be the last Sunday that our student assistant from this past year, Nathan Loersch, will be with us. God truly blessed us this year having Nathan and Becky in our midst. This coming week Nathan and Becky will find out where they will get to serve next year as Nathan will be receiving his first divine Call to serve as a pastor. Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary cordially invites all of you to be present for any of their special events this coming week.

Graduate Assignment Service – Thursday, May 21, 10:00 a.m. (This is when Nathan will receive his Call)
Graduation Concert presented by the Seminary Chorus – Thursday, May 21, 7:00 p.m.
Graduation Service – Friday, May 22, 10:00 a.m.

Helping the Builders – Food Donations Needed for the Builder Volunteers for the Summer! To sign up to donate meals, snacks or supplies, or even to volunteer time on the build itself, go to www.victoryofthelamb.com and click on the “Feeding the Builders” button on the right hand side of the homepage. Or to make it as easy as possible go directly to the page via this link. From this page you simply have to scroll down to find what you’d like to volunteer for. This is an awesome way for our congregation to say thank you to the builders who are coming from as far as Texas to help build our ministry center!

Meals – As a congregation, we are asking to provide a noon meal for the days of the build which are Tuesdays through Saturdays from May 26 through September 5th.  We really want to provide wonderful meals for the volunteers who will be working incredibly hard to build our ministry
center.  Meals consist of a main dish; fresh fruits or salad; and a dessert. The Builders have a phrase, “We judge a build by how much weight we gain.” Let’s look at that as a challenge to fulfill!

Snacks and Supplies –The Builders have two breaks a day at 9:30am and 2:30pm and we would like to provide snacks at each of these breaks. We will also need supplies and have a wish list of items we’ll need for the build. Again you can see the needs list by finding the link on this web page. Just click on the Snacks and Supplies button and login to CCB for a very easy to use form. If you don’t know your CCB login please contact me and I’ll be happy to send you a new login email with a temporary password.

Monetary Donations – We will gladly accept monetary donations to help feed the volunteer builders this summer. On the Information Table located near Theatre 1, we will have a small church with a slot in the roof. You can put your cash or checks in the slot.  Checks can be made out to Victory of the Lamb and in the memo section can be written “Feeding the Builders.”

Soccer Camp 2015 – Our annual soccer camp will take place this summer, June 15-18. It is already shaping up to be our best yet. There is plenty of space for everyone to get involved (not just kids!). Kids will enjoy the best week of summer, complete with soccer activities, scrimmages, snacks, a cookout and awesome Bible lessons.  Adults, you can come to camp too!  We are looking for soccer coaches (all coaching materials provided) and coaching helpers (no soccer knowledge required, just be able to help out). Sign up for a day, two days or all week! We are also looking for 3-4 camp helpers to help with daily registration, snack preparation and clean-up.  We hope to see you this June!

Last Sunday’s sermon resources can be found here on our website. “Words to love by!”

Sharing Christ’s Victory,

Pastor Ben
