Victory News - Turning Dirt!
This Sunday we’re starting a new series called Words With Friends. Each week in this series we’ll be learning directly from Jesus as he taught his friends (which includes you and me!) some of the most important truths he wanted them (us!) to remember and put into practice.
Turning Dirt! – A picture I posted on our church Facebook page on Tuesday received over 1,000 views! Why? I suppose for me it was because seeing the dirt mover next to our “future home of” sign on our land was the culmination of years of hard work, prayer, and God’s blessings. But the good news is that that piece of heavy equipment didn’t just stay parked next to the sign all the week but already on Wednesday it was busy turning dirt. Sitework has begun and soon we’ll have a campsite set up and ready for the Builders For Christ to arrive at the end of May. And speaking of the Builders…
Helping the Builders – Food Donations Needed for the Builder Volunteers for the Summer! To sign up to donate meals, snacks or supplies, or even to volunteer time on the build itself, go to www.victoryofthelamb.com and click on the “Feeding the Builders” button on the right hand side of the homepage. Or to make it as easy as possible go directly to the page via this link. From this page you simply have to scroll down to find what you’d like to volunteer for. This is an awesome way for our congregation to say thank you to the builders who are coming from as far as Texas to help build our ministry center!
Meals – As a congregation, we are asking to provide a noon meal for the days of the build which are Tuesdays through Saturdays from May 26 through September 5th. We really want to provide wonderful meals for the volunteers who will be working incredibly hard to build our ministry
center. Meals consist of a main dish; fresh fruits or salad; and a dessert. The Builders have a phrase, “We judge a build by how much weight we gain.” Let’s look at that as a challenge to fulfill!
Snacks and Supplies –The Builders have two breaks a day at 9:30am and 2:30pm and we would like to provide snacks at each of these breaks. We will also need supplies and have a wish list of items we’ll need for the build. Again you can see the needs list by finding the link on this web page. Just click on the Snacks and Supplies button and login to CCB for a very easy to use form. If you don’t know your CCB login please contact me and I’ll be happy to send you a new login email with a temporary password.
Monetary Donations – We will gladly accept monetary donations to help feed the volunteer builders this summer. On the Information Table located near Theatre 1, we will have a small church with a slot in the roof. You can put your cash or checks in the slot. Checks can be made out to Victory of the Lamb and in the memo section can be written “Feeding the Builders.”
Looking to Upgrade Your Fridge or Stove? – If you’ve been looking for a reason to upgrade your existing appliances, consider donating your existing, working fridge or electric stove to our church. We would use it immediately this summer in the shed that the Builders For Christ will be using as their hub and then in the kitchen area of our new Victory Café. This would help us save money for other furnishings in our new buildings. If you’re thinking this might work for you, please contact Lori Stankiewicz who is coordinator things with the Builders For Christ on our church’s end of things either by email or phone: 915-252-1646
Know Someone with a Pop-up camper? A Builders For Christ couple needs one for 6 weeks—from right after Memorial Day until the first part of July. Please contact our Builders For Christ project manager Mark Pamperin asap with any leads either via email or phone: 262-707-2312.
Soccer Camp 2015 – Our annual soccer camp will take place this summer, June 15-18. It is already shaping up to be our best yet. There is plenty of space for everyone to get involved (not just kids!). Kids will enjoy the best week of summer, complete with soccer activities, scrimmages, snacks, a cookout and awesome Bible lessons. Adults, you can come to camp too! We are looking for soccer coaches (all coaching materials provided) and coaching helpers (no soccer knowledge required, just be able to help out). Sign up for a day, two days or all week! We are also looking for 3-4 camp helpers to help with daily registration, snack preparation and clean-up. We hope to see you this June!
