|Soon... our new sanctuary will be filled with chairs... and people! 1st services on December 20th at 9 and 10:45 am|
After having church in a movie theater for many years, I’m used to hearing this phrase. The new Star Wars movie is “coming soon” for example (as if anybody needed to be reminded of this!).
Actually though this is a key message that Jesus Christ himself wants us to be reminded of and to take to heart. “Behold! I am coming soon” (Revelation 22:7). That’s what this season that Christians call Advent is all about. Jesus is coming soon. And that’s why the title of our current message series is Anticipation. We look ahead not only to celebrating Christmas when Jesus Christ came into this world the first time as one of us. We also look ahead to Christ’s second coming when he returns on the last day to rescue us once and for all from everything that causes sadness, pain, and death.
With this bigger picture in mind, I’m also of course anticipating being able to move into our new ministry center very soon. December 20th in fact is the day, God-willing, when we will be having our first services there, just down the road from the movie theater. Until then though, for two more weeks, we’ll be meeting at Showtime Cinema at 9:09 am.
Updated Timeline – Starting December 20th we will be having two services on Sunday mornings at our new ministry center which is located at 11120 W Loomis Rd. The first service will start at 9 am. The second one at 10:45 am.

Mr. Bill’s Christmas Ornaments – During November, you were given the opportunity to bid on Christmas ornaments that Mr. Bill from Builders for Christ made and which were on display in the Victory Café. We raised $459 through the auction, all of which will go to helping people in need. Praise God! If you placed a bid and are wondering if you won, email Jim Guenther and he'll happily let you know.
Bible 101 — Want to be part of my first class in our new ministry center? Let me know if you’re interested so I can keep you in the loop. I anticipate starting a new class in January once the holidays are over and we’ve moved into our new ministry center.
Bible 101 is the starting point in our church for anyone who would like to learn more about God, anyone who wants to see for themselves what the Bible says, or anyone who would like to receive the sacrament of holy communion in our fellowship.
It’s also a great refresher for anyone who’d like to review the Bible’s basic teachings or who who’d like to grow beyond knowing a bunch of religious sounding clichés to know actual Bible truth.
Advent Devotions – Our synod’s college of ministry, Martin Luther College (MLC), has prepared a special devotional booklet that you can download and use for free. The 25 devotions in this booklet were authored by current students at MLC, as well as pastors, teachers, staff ministers, and lay leaders who have studied at MLC. They are intended for use December 1-25. Download the free pdf here.
