Victory News - A Grand Sunday to Share the Gospel!

Schmiege helping the kids make a cross necklace out of two nails at Easter For Kids
It was on Palm Sunday almost a decade ago now when our church, Victory of the Lamb, celebrated our first community-wide grand opening at the Polonia Soccer Club. That was a pretty special day. A day I’ll never forget. We packed that one big room at Polonia about as tightly as we could fit. It was as if God knew how many people we could handle…and just that many he brought to church, and not a single person more!

I believe that this Sunday it will be that way too as we welcome new guests from all over who will be coming to check out our brand new ministry center and worshiping with us for the very first time, and perhaps in some cases, for their first time ever…or in a while…in church.

And so remember that what we know to be true, the message of Christ’s victory… might for some people be brand new. We get to help introduce people to their Savior. We get to help give people their first impressions about what His church is like. What an awesome and joyful privilege!

And so I also pray for all you that the message of Christ would bring you joy and peace as if you were hearing it also for the very first time. Do you remember what it was like to hear this good news and understand it for the first time—that it’s for you, and that it’s complete, and that it’s all by grace?
Would you also pray for me that the Spirit gives me clarity and conviction as I preach this Sunday so that everything I say and do helps point people to Christ, and to his victory, and to the peace that he came to bring? Thank you!

Easter for Kids – Thank you so much to all of you who volunteered or donated for our Easter For Kids event at church last Saturday! We had over 90 kids join us to experience the “Road to Resurrection.” But don’t just take my word for it. Check out Nancy’s wonderful pictures here on our Facebook page. Special thanks to Cassy for organizing a well-run event.

Quest Teen Ministry (7th – 12th grade) – Any and all teens, come to Quest on Sunday nights at 6 pm at Victory of the Lamb. Visit Facebook.com/questteens or contact Jon Brown-Schmidt via email or via phone/text: 414-531-3690.

Easter Flowers There will be a sign-up sheet in the lobby to purchase Easter Flowers for the beautification of our Easter services. This year we’re trying something new. I pre-ordered a variety of flowers and I need families to purchase from the list. Lilies are $7.00 and all others are $7.50. Money is due on March 20th. Make checks payable to Sharon Kiesow. - Flower co-ordinator: Nancy Fabian.

Holy Week is coming up on the heels of our Palm Sunday grand opening. We will be having services on  Maundy Thursday (March 24th) at 6:30 pm and Good Friday (March 25th) at 6:30 pm and Easter Sunday morning (March 27th) at our regular times.

Find a Place to Serve – Our Altar Team works behind the scenes to prepare the elements for Holy Communion and keep the altar tidy and clean. Now seeking more volunteers. No experience necessary. Training provided. Please contact Nancy Fabian if interested or sign up on the sheet at the info table.
More Than Bricks Update - MTB kicked off in December 2014 as a major funding campaign for our new Ministry Center, with a goal of $500,000. 80% of the money received ($400,000) is being used to reduce our mortgage debt and related expenses, and 20% ($100,000) is being used to support mission work in North Dakota, St. Lucia and Nepal. We are about 15 months into the 3 year campaign, and we will be including monthly status updates in the Friday blog from Pastor Ben.

Commitments through February 2016           $416,000

Donations Received                                        $213,747

God has blessed us richly in this campaign, and our prayer is that we are able to reach the $500,000 in commitments during the next two years. As a reminder, your box of donation envelopes includes a monthly MTB envelope, and you can also donate either on line or via text. If you are a new member or would like an informational packet about MTB, please ask an usher at church.

Victory News - Easter For Kids Weekend!

Where Vicar Caleb will be hanging out tomorrow
At this moment, our entire ministry center is being transformed into ancient Jerusalem for our “Road to Resurrection” Easter for Kids outreach event this Saturday. Right now we’re expecting about 100 kids from our church and community, but there’s still time and some room if you have yet to register your kids ages 3-11.

There will be music, games, lunch, and five destinations for kids to experience the powerful moments that surrounded the death and resurrection of Jesus. Then on Sunday during our 9 am church service the kids will be invited to come and sing the Easter song they learned.
And as always, everyone is invited to join us for worship Sunday morning whether at 9 or 10:45. Victory Kids during both.

“Risen” Movie Recap – Last Friday night we had a fantastic turnout for a special showing of the new movie “Risen” at Showtime Cinema. 58 people joined us, many of whom came over to the ministry for ice cream and informal conversations about the movie. I had a great time and enjoyed getting to meet some neighbors and friends whom you invited to join us. Two people were so interested in learning more they jumped into the middle of my Bible 201 class the next afternoon!

Quest Success! 21 students and 4 adults gathered last Sunday evening here at the ministry center for our first teen ministry gathering. Many brought friends. God be praised! I’m very thankful for the individuals spearheading this effort to engage the teens of our church. See below for more info about Quest.

Quest Teen Ministry (7th – 12th grade) – Life is not easy.  We have family, friends, relationships, school, sports, our own bodies and American culture making demands on how our life is lived.  This noise can be deafening and overbearing.  Cutting through the chatter is the voice of Christ saying, “I will be with you always.”  Our life is fulfilled through Him, not the noise of this world.  If you are looking for a place to escape those distractions and be comforted by Christ with fellow Christian teens, come to Quest on Sunday nights at 6 pm at Victory of the Lamb.  If you have any questions visit Facebook.com/questteens or contact Jon Brown-Schmidt via email or via phone/text: 414-531-3690.

Spring Ahead this Sunday! Daylight savings time ends this weekend so don’t forget to set your clocks ahead an hour this Sunday. But if you forget…don’t worry, there will be plenty of open seats as you arrive early for the 10:45 service!

Easter Flowers – There will be a Sign-up board in the lobby to purchase Easter Flowers for the beautification of our Easter services. This year we’re trying something new. I pre-ordered a variety of flowers and I need families to purchase from the list. Lilies are $7.00 and all others are $7.50. Money is due on March 20th. Make checks payable to Sharon Kiesow. - Flower coordinator: Nancy Fabian.

New Livestreaming Platform
– Please note we have changed our live streaming platform. Here’s the new link which you can also find via our church website: http://victoryofthelamb.churchonline.org/

Community Grand Opening is coming up on March 20th at our Sunday morning services followed by Holy Week Services on Maundy Thursday (March 24th) at 6:30 pm and Good Friday (March 25th) at 6:30 pm and Easter Sunday (March 27th).

Find a Place to Serve – Our Altar Team works behind the scenes to prepare the elements for Holy Communion and keep the altar tidy and clean. Now seeking more volunteers. No experience necessary. Training provided. Please contact Nancy Fabian if interested.

Victory News

Dear Friends,

“That day Herod and Pilate became friends-- before this they had been enemies” (Luke 23:12).

Frenemies! Sounds a lot like the political process, the debates and the backroom deals that go on today. People who spoke highly of each other four years ago are enemies. Enemies four years ago are now friends.

Thankfully the way friendship with God works is very different...and, dare I say it, scandalously so. Find out what I mean as we continue our Lent series “Scandal” this Sunday at Victory of the Lamb.

All are invited to join us for worship Sunday morning at 9 or 10:45. Victory Kids during both.

Easter For Kids is coming next Saturday March 12th, a special one day kids’ event to take place at our ministry center between 11am-3pm for kids ages 3-11. To register, visit our church website. To volunteer during the event or to donate specific items that are needed, please visit the Victory Kids lobby after church and talk to Cassy. There will be same day registration if needed. And it is ok if you have to come late or leave early for the event. We'll accommodate you.

And here are a couple things we’re especially looking for yet:

Guys to be Roman soldiers. Come on fellas, you know you want to! Who doesn’t want to stand around looking tough?

After 2nd service this Sunday we need helpers to stick around to help us stack and move chairs. The whole sanctuary is being transformed into one large room to be divided into four stations.

After Easter for Kids on March 12th, we need clean up help from 3-6 pm. We have to reset the whole church for Sunday worship the next day.

Please let Cassy know if you are willing and able to help in any of these ways.

If you are looking for a place to escape those distractions and be comforted by Christ with fellow Christian teens, come to Quest on Sunday nights STARTING THIS SUNDAY! at 6 pm at Victory of the Lamb.  If you have any questions visit Facebook.com/questteens or contact Jon Brown-Schmidt via email or via phone/text: 414-531-3690.

LWMS Talk – After our 9 am service this Sunday, Karla Jaeger, of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society will talk for 5 minutes. Any interested women more will be invited to stick around for 15 minutes in between services for more information about how you can be a part of the LWMS. Our church has been richly blessed by support from the LWMS up to this point. As a mission pastor my family received special care packages from LWMS groups on the East Coast. And our church received financial support to help run previous soccer camps and send postcard mailings. This will be a great opportunity to get involved in the wonderful work the LWMS does to support missions!

New Livestreaming Platform! This Sunday we will again begin live streaming our worship services. Please note we have changed our live streaming platform. Here’s the new link which you can also find via our church website.

VotL Travel Mugs are available for you to purchase in the Welcome Area this Sunday for $8 each. For your $8, you are not only buying one for yourself, but also covering the cost of a second that we will be able to give away to guests. The idea is that these travel mugs will serve as our special gift for first-time guests starting March 13th. Consider bringing your VotL travel mug to church to help reduce the use of disposable coffee cups.

Community Grand Opening on March 20th at our Sunday morning services followed by Holy Week Services on Maundy Thursday (March 24th) at 6:30 pm and Good Friday (March 25th) at 6:30 pm and Easter Sunday (March 27th).

Find a Place to Serve – Our Altar Team works behind the scenes to prepare the elements for Holy Communion and keep the altar tidy and clean. Now seeking more volunteers. No experience necessary. Training provided. Please contact Nancy Fabian if interested.

On Thursday March 10th, I need office help at the ministry center from 12:30-3:30 as well as on Thursday March 17th, from 12:30-3:30. There is worship folder folding to be done, new connections cards and prayer request cards to be cut, and grand opening postcards to be sorted into mailing bins for a bulk mailing, etc. 4-5 people needed. Send me a quick email if you are interested in helping.

Sharing Christ’s Victory,

Pastor Ben
