Victory News

Last Sunday was a great day. First of all we heard a spot-on message from Vicar Caleb about the GREAT promises that God has made to us in Romans 8:26-39. In case you missed it, be sure and catch it online.

Later in the afternoon, our Leadership Team also held a call meeting for a second pastor. After prayerful consideration the Leadership Team has extended a call to Pastor Josh Odell to serve as our Associate Pastor. Pastor Josh currently serves as an associate pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Eagle River and St. John Lutheran Church of Phelps where he was assigned when he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2010. Please keep Pastor Josh in your prayers that the Holy Spirit guides him to go where he feels his talents can be best used to extend Christ’s kingdom and where he thinks that he can serve with maximum joy.

Finally, last evening after the call meeting, over 50 people enjoyed the storytelling presentation of Daniel Dexter as he masterfully wove together the first …

Victory News - Opportunities to Grow

This week was filled with many blessings as a number of new ministry opportunities successfully kicked off including my Breakfast and Bible Study early Monday morning and our Victory Moms group on Thursday morning. I was overjoyed to have 12 (smiling even!) people join me at 5:45 am at the break of day as we began studying Philippians—talking about how to sustain joy in life. It was a great way to start a long, busy week. I was built up and encouraged by all who came!

Also 14 moms and twice as many kids came together to encourage each other, have fun, and play on Thursday morning. It was fun to see a parking lot made up entirely of minivans and crossovers! I was struck me just how important creating opportunities like this are when I saw one comment on Facebook that said: “Thankful today for Victory of the Lamb’s new Victory Moms group--it was the best thing I've done for myself in years.” Awesome…just awesome…and God be praised that we can use our ministry center to create exper…

Victory News - Great Things Going On!

First of all, I want to thank all of you who gave special gifts to help me and Sarah get away last week to attend my “Renewed in Grace” 10 year retreat in San Antonio. Your gifts of love enabled us to really enjoy this special time away. And your generosity also allowed us to be generous in picking up the tab for a couple meals we enjoyed with friends on the Riverwalk in between study sessions where we grew together in God’s grace through studying Scripture together. We spoke highly of you and your very evident love for your pastor and his family!

All in all, despite Sarah and I both getting the respiratory version of influenza while down there, it was really great to get away and reconnect with classmates I haven’t seen in almost a decade—friends from all over the country and beyond. It’s amazing that this year marks ten years for me being a pastor, but by God’s grace I pray He’ll supply me with the strength to carry on for the next ten. God knows how much I need it because the numb…
